We are proud to release our annual Local Labour Market Plan (LLMP), a detailed report providing insights into the local labor market for the public, job seekers, service providers, and employers.

This year’s report highlights a resilient and growing workforce, noting a decrease in unemployment rates from a peak of 17.9% in June 2020 to an average of 7.1% in 2023. It also addresses job demand variability across sectors, with specific attention to areas of high and low unemployment rates.

To navigate these trends and the impact of global events on our economy, we’ve developed a focused Action Plan for 2024-2027 targeting recruitment and retention, skilled trades promotion, rural and diverse workforce support, and exploration of the clean energy sector.

This initiative aims to guide community discussions, inform programming, and bridge workforce gaps, fostering growth and opportunity in our local labor market.
